With the sun shining on the perfect November day, LCD Photography was privileged enough to be a part of such an important day for Allison and Jeffery. Joined by a couple of their closest friends and family at The Islands of Cocoplum, Allison and Jeffery enjoyed a wonderful, and simply intimate wedding day. The day could not have turned out any better, and LCD was glad to have been able to help capture all of the special memories that were made.

LCD Photography was privilleged to do a photo shoot with the adorable, and extremely talented, Madison Falla. Madison Falla is a 9 year old girl from Miami Florida. She is with World of Kids Modeling and Talent Agency. Madison has been in the business since she was 5 working with numerous top clients such as Ralph Lauren, J Crew, Lilly Pulitzer, Nautica and several others. She is currently taking acting classes and is appearing in the Nexcare Bandaid Commercial on National Television. It was such a pleasure getting the opportunity to work with such an amazing little girl who has such a bright future!

Don’t Tell the Bride!!

“The big day” is a day that many women have been dreaming about and planning since they were little girls. Even the girls here at LCD Photography can tell stories about them and their childhood friends staying up all night during sleepovers and drawing out their wedding day, from an exact description of Mr. Right, to the color of the ribbon in their hair. It’s no surprise that statistically, the actual wedding and the plans surrounding the wedding have been shown to be more important to the bride. That’s not to say that the grooms don’t care, but when it comes to his bride’s dream wedding, he knows it’s better left in her hands.

So, what would happen, ladies, if you had absolutely no control over anything about your wedding, not even your own dress?! … Oprah Winfrey plans to find out!

Later this year, on her network, OWN, Oprah will be bringing the hit U.K. series, “Don’t Tell the Bride,” to the U.S. The show will include 8 couples that are strapped for cash. Each couple will receive $25,000 to plan their dream wedding. But, as is true with many good things, there is a catch! The groom must do all of the planning on his own, in secret! The couple cannot even see each other for one entire month before their wedding day. Doesn’t sound so bad at first, but there’s more! The groom must pick out the bride’s dress, design the invitations, choose the food, order the cake, arrange the guest list and seating, book the venue, hire the photographer, choose the flower bouquet, plan the wedding party… ALL IN A 3 WEEK TIME FRAME! And the bride gets to see none of it, until the day of the wedding! The dress will be tried on the night before the wedding, the invitation will be seen by her as it arrives in the mail, the food and cake will be unknown until it is served to her, the guest list a surprise for the day of the wedding…

…Could you do it?

With popcorn in hand, LCD plans on tuning in as soon as the show is aired. In our Ohio, and Florida locations, we will be intently watching “Don’t Tell the Bride,” as it airs on OWN later this year.

Don’t Rain on My Parade!

Rain. The word that has brides and grooms uneasy and on-edge until the guests are traveling home from the reception and the newlyweds are on their way to some tropical paradise. From the day we choose a wedding date, we Clevelander’s have to question things like wedding month and venue. Despite suffering through the longest and most tedious winters compared to others, we, unfortunately, are not guaranteed sunshine and beautiful skies. As long-time and specialized Cleveland photographers, we can sympathize with couples worrying themselves over weather reports a full-month or more ahead and back-up plans. No matter how reassuring your family, bridal party, or vendors can be, the stress that’s endured by the groom and bride is not optimal.

By this point in your planning process we’re sure you’ve heard that rain fall on your wedding day is considered good luck. You may have asked yourself if the “good luck rain” they speak of was invented and intended for us Cleveland residents alone! While LCD can’t guarantee our Cleveland brides and grooms perfect weather, we can promise and provide you with beautiful and timeless photography.

We, along with you, hope for nice weather. Some photographers may not feel comfortable snapping shots in bad weather conditions. Good thing we aren’t one of those photographers! GET READY. GET SET. Get Married!

You have dreamt about and envisioned this day since you were old enough to understand the concept of that ‘white’ glamorous day. We feel confident in saying that the wedding day is the single-most important event of a woman’s life. We spend months or even years (caught ya!) planning the details of this party. The day arrives and ends just as quickly. Don’t panic , LCD is here to capture the wedding memories and your bridal beauty for you to hold onto and pass along as your life continues to unfold. Just as it’s important to plan each and every minuscule detail of the wedding day, to ensure the best photographs of you and your husband, we have some helpful suggestions to share with you. Since the bride tends to be the show-stopper (sorry boys!), our beauty hints will be more useful for our blushing brides.

Let’s set the tone. Mood music, please. All eyes are on you. Your skin is glowing radiantly. Your make-up is flawless and your flowing tresses are silky and shining. Oooo’s and aaaah’s are being heard as you walk your way down the aisle. Pictures are being snapped from every direction and you feel calm and collected. You receive your pictures from your photographer and couldn’t be more thrilled. Success story indeed.

REWIND.

Beautiful skin and locks don’t just appear because it’s your day. How frustrating, right? You may ask yourself, “How can I splurge on frequent haircuts and facials when I’m counting pennies to hand over to my vendors?” As frustrating as it can be, your beauty upkeep will pay off. Without further ado, here are our photo-ready suggestions.

1.) We all fear the notorious makeup catastrophe. To avoid looking silly, consult with a makeup artist prior to your big day. Schedule a consultation and take a few pictures of yourself. Upload the photo to your computer and use it as your desktop background. This technique will guarantee wedding day bliss and not the blues. Oh yeah, when they say “something blue” they didn’t’ mean your eye-shadow.

2.) Dewy skin cannot be achieved by relying solely on your makeup artist’s talent. They use brushes not a magical wand. Six months before the big day consider investing in some quality moisturizer. Also, exfoliating (especially those lips) will have you looking runway rather then runaway bride.

3.) The fearful “T” word that has photographers sweating. Tanning. And we aren’t sweating because of the intense rays. Tanning and bronzing does not equal glowing and radiant skin. Be mindful about your tanning habits. Just remember, a little goes a long way.

4.) As the sages have it, we are what we eat. Thus, to have healthy beautiful hair for your wedding, you may want to watch what you are putting into your body. Again, six months prior to saying your I do’s, regular hair-trims and maintenance are in order. Long hair with split-ends doesn’t ‘cut’ it.

5.) Here is our proposal when it comes to flash photography. Don’t use heavy pressed power to set your foundation. Consider using a light translucent power to avoid running the risk of looking chalky and ghost-like. We also suggest investing in some high-definition foundation. You should ask your makeup artist what they are using and offer bringing your preferred brand. Another makeup ‘no-no’ is frosted or lighter pigmented lip stains. While you are not expected to choose dark colors, aim for warmer shades that won’t disappear when the camera flashes. No lips are one thing, but a life-less face is unacceptable. Warming up those apples of your cheeks with blush will create more dimension and make you pop. You want to be a blushing bride, right? Just because it’s not in your daily makeup regimen doesn’t mean it should be ‘brushed’ off!

6.) We have one last big “I do.” Get those pearly whites shining! While we have technology to remove flaws and enhance color later on, whitening up your teeth will keep your guest’s heads turning.

So, we ask you. Do you vow to take the necessary steps? Get ready. Get set. Get married.

Engagement sessions are awesome because they give us a chance to meet with our soon-to-be wedded couple and lets us have some time to get to know each other, this way we get a real feel for their sense of style . The sessions also give us a chance to get out and shoot at different locations which always fun. Our first engagement portraits of the new year took us to the windy city where Andrea & Dan were originally engaged. Here is a sneak peak of a few of the images from the day.
